Looking for a fun way to practice reading or writing words during Phonics? Then this is for you.
Kym's Game is a memory game where pupils have to remember which picture is missing. It can be used as a writing activity or which the word boards as a reading activity. Pupils identify which picture they think is missing by either writing or cover the word on the word boards. Challenge slides are included for each game to solve. Take a look at our video preview to see a game in action!
Our Phase 2 version includes 192 slides which make up 15 games covering words from set 1 to set 5 in the Letters and Sounds document.
Set 1 - 2 sounds has 3 games
Set 1- 3 sounds has 3 games
Set 1 - 4 sounds has 4 games
Set 1- 4 sounds has 4 games
There are four sets of puzzles, each set is slightly different. CVCC words have final blend missing and CCV/CCVC are missing the initial blends (words using sets 1-7 letters – orange, words using Phase 3 graphemes – purple)
CVCC/CCCVC/CCCVCC are missing both beginning and final and finally the polysyllabic is matching the syllables to the picture.
The idea is that the coloured puzzle piece are sorted by the pictures which has that sound in the word. They then make the sound when put together either using the black and white base or without to make it challenging. Some sounds have word puzzles (__ick, s___t) and may have the same pictures on both letters for that sound.
Colour the words to make the sentence for the picture. Then have a go at writing it underneath. These match the picture and sentence matching.
Great to use in class or to send home.
The flowers are my own design. Each one has a common exception word. Ideal for displaying with the Phonics Forest which i have for sale.
UPDATE: Cursive version has now been included.
Based on snakes and ladders there are 11 boards covering the Common Exception Words for Year 2. There are approx 6 different words on each board. Just follow the direction of the fairy when you land on the square
Created as I couldn’t find a mat that had everything I wanted on one mat.

Includes Phase 2 and 3 sounds, capital letters where appropriate and high frequency words for Phases.

In this pack there are 4 sets which cover : CVCC words, CCV/CCVC Words, CCVCC/CCCVC/CCCVCC Words and Polysyllabic Words.
